The Covid-19 pandemic required teachers to run remote learning sessions with their students via Zoom group interactions. As a kindergarten teacher I was constantly on the lookout for material that would engage my kindergarten class online.
I came across ‘Subtraction with Steggie’, a PAIR read aloud storybook that came with an array of engagement prompts. My students found ‘Subtraction with Steggie’ lots of fun. This imaginative story complemented the unit of work we were studying in class and also reinforced learnt subtraction concepts. It was very interactive and immediately captivated my students. They also enjoyed the rhyming words and said aloud the answers to the subtraction sums in the story.
I recommend the PAIR readers to teachers and parents looking for a novel way to engage their little learners.
